Budget 2015 announced on the 14th Oct 2015 sees the expansion of the Home Renovation Incentive. The HRI will now apply to rental properties and benefit any landlords who are subject to income tax. This means that a tax credit can be claimed for the VAT amount (lower rate only) on any works carried out on those rental properties up to a maximum credit of €4,050. The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) today (18th November 2013) welcomed the fact that the €57m allocated by Government to Better Energy means that Better Energy Homes will remain open for grant applications through 2014.

The scheme will continue in its current format and offer cash grants for energy efficient measures such as wall and roof insulation, boiler and heating controls upgrade and solar hot water systems. You can read more about the Better Energy Homes scheme here or visit www.seai.ie.

SEAI recently marked the milestone of 250,000 homes upgraded in Ireland through the highly successful Better Energy schemes. Free home energy upgrades have been completed in 100,000 vulnerable homes through Better Energy Warmer Homes Scheme.  A further 150,000 homeowners have availed of Better Energy Homes grants for insulation and heating upgrades.
